Snap out of the winter blues with some local fun!

By the middle of February with all this snow and freezing temperatures, we are all going stir crazy in the house. I am always looking for fun ways to snap out of the winter blues with some local fun!

My girls are 8 and 5 and I really try to not turn on the TV all day to entertain them on these dreary winter days. I have to get creative and think about different ways to keep my girls busy! I am not the type of mom that loves to have thousands of toys all over the house. I prefer to keep the amount of clutter to a minimum in our house – it just keeps the peace. When my house is decently organized I am a much happier mom! This is the main reason I just adore Snapology as a place to take my girls to play. They have stations and stations of toys for the girls to play and all the toys stay there. No stepping on Lego pieces all over my house!
Not everyday is going to be like this day when all four of us had a blast outside in the snow. Seriously, this day was SO FUN. Motherhood is funny like that – lots and lots of hard, monotonous days when you think you are going to lose your mind. Then, God gives you a miracle day where the kids get along, there is the perfect amount of snow on the ground, and daddy comes home early and jumps right on the sled and makes us all crack up laughing!

Snapology follows a really cool curriculum that includes “STEM.” “STEM” is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — in an interdisciplinary and applied approach.” I have been hearing more and more about STEM and I was curious so I did a little research. When I looked up STEM, I came across Snapology and all of the programs they offer for kids that focus on education. Pretty awesome programs! Snapology provides interactive, STEM / STEAM programs for children featuring technology and popular building toys such as LEGO® bricks and K’Nex®. Kids have so much fun in our programs and they don’t even realize they are learning while they are having fun!

So, I wanted to team up with Snaplogy and send one of my readers a prize – a LEGO® brick set of the Snapology Mascot Sebastian Gator! Here is a photo of the LEGO® set. This prize will be shipped directly to the winner. The age recommendation is 6+.

To enter, please leave a comment below. In your comment, tell me how you try to snap out of the winter blues and how this LEGO® set would be fun for your family! A winner will be picked at random. I will pick a winner on Friday, March 2nd. Good luck!

  1. Snapology is awesome! It’s crazy important not to let kids veg out in front of the TV for hours in those formative years.

  2. Snapology opened when my son was at the perfect age for Legos. We had hours of fun there, meeting new friends, and even celebrating his birthday there. It also saved my poor bare feet from stepping on the dreaded Lego piece! This winter, we’ve turned to puzzles to help get rid of those winter blues. Mu daughter LOVES puzzles! One of her favorite toys is the magnetic tiles (something that was introduced to us at Snapology!). Both my kids (13 and 4) play together with these for hours. She would love a Lego set of her own so her brother would stop yelling at her for playing with his! 🙂

  3. My kids have just re entry gotten back into legos! We couldn’t get them to bed last night because they were building! We will def have to check out this place soon!!
