I get it. You are busy. You have a lot to do. Making a balanced breakfast first thing in the morning sounds like a chore. Guess what? It doesn’t have to be. My friend Sara has created a rockin’ smoothie that gets her movin’ and grovin’ all morning long and she is sharing it with you this morning. Oh yeah! Try out this recipe for a protein-packed smoothie. Skip those nasty packaged ones I see at my gym all the time. You know what I’m talking about.
Sara, you are busy, right? Tell me about your favorite quick breakfast.
Sick of toast and coffee? My morning java use to keep me alert till mid-morning. That’s until I was diagnosed with low thyroid function. Nothing jolted my energy then not even a bottle of Bolt. I had to learn how to incorporate healthy proteins and antioxidants into my morning routine to boost my metabolism. That’s not always an easy task when you love cereal, toast and bagels.
In my home a protein breakfast is a must and has to be quick. We choose foods like plain yogurts with peaches, left over quinoa + applesauce + cinnamon or protein smoothies.
Choosing the right breakfast each morning can mean the difference between dragging my butt all day and feeling fabulous!
There is nothing more rewarding than feeling alive in the morning. Empty calories from cereals and breads can leave me looking for more. Sugar that is. An easy smoothie made with the right stuff will sustain my morning energy.
The Morning Champ
Ingredients:
½ cup of wild blueberries
½ cup pineapple juice
½ cup water
2 Tbsp hemp seeds
1 big kale leaf, de-stemmed
Directions:
Blend well.
Sometimes I’ll grab the boxed cereal or enjoy an old comfort food. My body soon reminds me that feeling just right includes more protein. The protein nourishes the thyroid and stabilizes blood sugars so that women can stay energized. That is the key to my vitality! Thanks Sara!
