Today, I am approaching 10 weeks pregnant. We found out we were pregnant again at 6 weeks. I felt great at that point. I was still going to the gym a few times a week. I was taking Madilyn for long walks. I was drinking my green smoothies.
Something changed at 7 weeks. I felt like complete crap. At almost 10 weeks today, I am still not feeling great.
Dry heaving in the shower.
“Morning” sickness that lasts all darn day long.
Insane cravings for my mom’s home cooking.
A new thankfulness that my parents live nearby to help me with Madilyn.
Crazy dreams.
A love for grapefruit every morning.
Unstoppable crying during those ridiculous animal commercials featuring Sarah McLachlan.
No desire to walk around the block let alone run on the treadmill.
Hours on the couch watching Dr.Oz during Madilyn’s nap instead of cleaning the house.
A longing for my mom’s potato salad. Mayonnaise and all.
Momma Sharon’s Famous Potato Salad
Ingredients:
5-6 potatoes
3-4 hard boiled eggs, pastured preferred
1 cup organic mayonnaise
1 tablespoon organic sweet pickle juice
1 cup chopped celery
1/8 cup chopped onion
salt and pepper, to taste
Directions:
Cook potatoes in boiling water for about 45 minutes (skin on). Drain and cool on counter for 30 minutes. Peel with knife when cool.
Hard boil eggs by simmering on stove for about 20 minutes with lid on. Peel and chop.
Mix mayonnaise with pickle juice and salt and pepper. Add onion and celery and mix. Add potatoes and eggs and mix together. Refrigerate when not eating.
Betsy –
This was very timely! I have been searching for an organic mayo that tastes good.
Sorry you are having a hard time. I remember those days.
Kristin, it is so good! Aw thanks so much. This too shall pass (someday!). 🙂
I don’t have children yet but what you just described is something I genuinely dread….
I am a very active person who tries very hard to eat healthy and I can’t imagine how frustrating it must be to just feel, off, for a constant period of time…
That potato salad looks lovely…And that little dolly of yours is absolutely adorable!
It totally stinks Katie but totally worth it in the end! Thanks so much!
Betsy,
I just bought the Spectrum Canola mayo. It is very good! I got it at Giant Eagle, but was wondering where u got yours. Thought TJ’s may have it cheaper.
Thanks!
Kristen, I got mine at GE and yes, it was a little pricey. We will have to check out TJs. 🙂
