Why didn’t you tell me? No one warned me that Madilyn would start getting a little sassy at the age of 19 months. Oh brother. She learned the word “no.”
Don’t get me wrong. She is the sweetest little thing. She so innocently comes up to me and “massages” my back, she gives me fishy kisses, and she gives me big hugs. However, this week, she learned the word “no” and has been practicing saying it… A LOT. “Noooo Mama! Noooo Dada!” Life has become more interesting at the Moore household.
But interesting is what we want right? If Madilyn just sat there and didn’t do anything I would be rushing her to the pediatrician to get her checked out. I have to remind myself, I want my child to be spunky, adventurous, strong willed and talkative.
Being a joyful mama is finding sweet patience and humor in the sassiness that a toddler can throw at you.
A little spunk makes life interesting. A little spice brings more flavor and adventure.
The perfect combo is when sweet meets sass right in the middle. The perfect combination. That point where our kiddos are fun and active and they make us smile with complete joy. The perfect combination. Just like this salsa.
Sweet and Sassy Peach and Cucumber Salsa
This salsa is the perfect blend of sweet peaches with sassy jalapeno pepper. The cool cucumber and herbs calms down the spiciness so don’t be scared. So delicious, so quick, so cheap to make!
Ingredients:
3 peaches, pitted and chopped
1 cucumber, seeded and chopped
1/2 white onion, chopped
1/2 jalapeno pepper, seeded and finely chopped
1 tablespoon chopped mint
1 tablespoon chopped basil
Juice of 1 lime
Salt to taste
Directions:
Mix it all up and serve.
This salsa is a perfect compliment to grilled fish. It is the perfect combination of sweet and sass. I served it over a piece of wild cod. I used the leftovers as dip with tortilla chips. I actually think it tasted better the next day. The ingredients had time to mix together perfectly.
