The pros and cons of pregnancy with a toddler.

Pro: My daughter’s instinct to take care of mommy. “Mommy, are you Ok? Need a towel, mommy?”
Con: Puking in the bathroom sink because the smell of her shampoo sets me off.
Pro: Watching Madilyn give my belly kisses and her saying, “Hi baby. Love you!”
Con: Asking Madilyn where baby will sleep when he/she arrives and her saying, “In the attic.”
Pro: Snuggle time on the couch watching American Idol, Dancing with the Stars and the occasional daytime talk show (because mama can’t stomach the thought of exercising right now).
Con: Sharing our bed with a snugly 2-year old for most of the night who drools on my pillow.
Pro: Being able to stay at home. (I give HUGE props to mommies out there that have morning sickness and nausea and have to work outside the home. Damn, you are my hero.)
Con: Having to play in a ladybug tent and have tea parties when all I want to do is sleep in the corner.

Pro: Ridiculous cravings for random foods during crazy times of the day AND not feeling guilty for eating them.
Con: Trying not to let your 2-year old see you eating chocolate covered pretzels in the corner of the kitchen.
Pro: Being able to focus on my sweet baby girl – just her.
Con: Knowing that in a few short months I will have to figure out how to give her special one-on-one attention with an infant in tow.
Pro: Madilyn’s 3-hr nap in the middle of the day.
Con: Waking up on the couch realizing that I must get up and get something fixed for dinner.
Pro: Taking a walk outside during the middle of the day and watching my 2-year old smell flowers, wave to kitty cats, and chase the dog.
Con: Dry heaving and watching my neighbors give me funny looks.
Pro: Teaching Madilyn about healthy eating and cooking at the early age of 2.
Con: Spending time making food that I can’t stomach 20 minutes later. This yogurt dip is the perfect example. Madilyn said she liked it.
Lemon Poppyseed Fruit Dip
2 small container of organic Greek yogurt, plain
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon poppy seeds
1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
1 teaspoon lemon juice
4 mint sprigs, chopped finely
Mix all ingredients and dollop over your favorite mix of fruit. Enjoy!
